Flash Flood Watch in effect until Saturday evening

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday evening at 7pm as we expect several more rounds of heavy rain Friday and Saturday.

Floodgate operations are currently underway at Buchanan Dam and Mansfield Dam as of Thursday evening. An additional floodgate has also been partially opened at Tom Miller Dam.

Scattered showers and storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening. A disturbance will move into the state early Saturday, allowing for numerous showers and storms. Some could produce flash flooding and creek and river flooding.

Rainfall amounts could add up to an additional two to three inches, with isolated locations east of Austin recording as much as five to seven inches.

Due to saturated soil, additional flash flooding and river flooding will be possible through the weekend.

Rain chances decrease as we head into next week, including an isolated chance of rain for Mother’s Day Sunday.
