A confirmed EF-2 tornado tore through eastern Wake County on Monday, damaging buildings and snapping trees.

The tornado, which was reported near Wendell and Zebulon, first touched down near Rolesville Road and Tinks Place, according to the National Weather Service.

In the tornado’s path, meteorologists found uprooted trees, damaged homes and destroyed farm buildings, according to the survey.

“A RV was flipped over numerous times landing crushed in an open field,” the National Weather Service’s Raleigh office said.

An EF-2 tornado is considered “strong,” bringing wind gusts of 111 to 135 mph, according to the service. No injuries or deaths were reported in Wake County on Monday.

The time of the tornado hasn’t been determined, and a survey of area damage is expected to continue Tuesday, the NWS says.
