CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A storm late Tuesday night turned deadly when a man was struck by lightning. The victim was 32-year-old Sirmorio Davis from Chester County.

The severe weather damaged homes and left several without power.

It’s a scene of utter destruction, as a confirmed tornado tore through Chester County, South Carolina.

Full of fear, Great Falls resident, Linda Hinson recalls last night.

“I’ve never seen nothing like this,” Hinson said.  “We all just took cover in our houses, we were in the closet crying and praying”

Power lines were downed and trees were uprooted. One tree came crashing down through the roof of a Great Falls family’s home.

“We start hearing stuff fall on us we thought it was just the attic door come down, but no the whole attic floor was coming on us,” Great Falls resident, Lacey Faile said.

The home in ruins, they have five kids, thankfully no one was hurt.

“It could’ve been so much worse,” Faile said.

But the storm did turn deadly, when a lightning bolt killed Sirmorio Davis. It happened near the Chester Homes Apartment on York Street.

In Charlotte, 7-year-old Issac Brown was filming a Tik-Tok video when a bolt of lightning struck, just missing him.

His mother, Shaudrika Rutherford, offers a warning to parents.

“It’s very important to keep an eye on all your kids,” said Rutherford, who was unaware her son was outside. “I am relieved that he didn’t get struck by lightning, if something would have happened it would have been devastating.”

And back in Chester County, the worst behind them, residents looking forward.

“It makes me appreciate a lot more than the day I did before,” said Great Falls resident, Dyani Rickles.
