Hanna becomes first hurricane of 2020 as it moves toward Texas coast
Hurricane Hanna has become the first hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, according to the latest National Hurricane Center advisory.
Landfall is expected Saturday afternoon or early evening. The storm is currently about 100 miles east-southeast of Corpus Christi and is moving west at about 9 mph, according to the 7 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center.
Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph. Hurricane Hanna is expected to strengthen before it makes landfall, but a rapid weakening is expected as it moves inland.

The storm is expected to bring 6 to 12 inches of rain with isolated maximum totals of 18 inches through Sunday in South Texas, according to the latest forecast. Rain may cause flash flooding, rapid rises in small streams and river flooding.
A few tornadoes are possible Saturday and overnight in parts of the lower to middle Texas coastal plain
In upper Texas and Louisiana coasts, 3 to 5 inches of rain is expected.

- Mesqiute Bay to High Island
Evacuation orders
On Friday, Kleberg County Judge Rudy Madrid had issued a voluntary evacuation order, effective immediately, for Ricardo, Riviera, Baffin Bay and Loyola Beach due to the storm’s “imminent threat.”
