Padre Island National Seashore will reopen Thursday after Hurricane Hanna caused damage in the area.
Access to most areas, including north and south beaches, will be open. Bird Island Basin day use area and Malaquite beach will be open at 6 a.m., according to a news release.
Campgrounds at Malaquite and Bird Island Basin remain closed. Primitive camping is permitted on north and south beaches, and overnight parking is permitted at Bird Island Basin boat ramp.
“The dock at Bird Island Boat ramp is being rebuilt and the dock will not be available until the work is finished,” the release reads.
Repairs and cleanup will continue at the seashore. Beachgoers are asked to drive safely and be cautious of workers and equipment.
“There is still a large amount of lightweight plastic debris on the beach that was brought in with the storm surge,” the release reads. “We encourage any visitors that are interested in helping to clean this up to stop by the visitor center complex and ask for a trash bag.”
