61st Street Fishing Pier in Galveston partially collapses from Tropical Storm Beta
The chances of Beta becoming a hurricane is decreasing, but it could be near hurricane strength as it approaches the Texas coast. Accuweather
Rising waters from Tropical Storm Beta caused structural damage to the 61st Street Fishing Pier in Galveston, Texas Sunday.
The National Weather Service in Houston said the rough surf and high tide caused the damage.
Video showed the partial collapse of a portion of the pier.

In addition, SH 275 from 14th St. to 25th St. in Galveston is closed due to high water, according the Texas Department of Transportation Houston District.

Sustained winds have also picked up, currently at 29 mph in Galveston at Scholes Field, gusting to 35 mph.
