AUSTIN, Texas — *Tropical Storm Beta made landfall near Port O’Connor late Monday night around 10 pm.  This is the ninth named storm that has made landfall in the continental U.S. this year which means 2020 is officially tied with the 1916 hurricane season for the most continental U.S. landfalls in a single season.

Tropical Storm Beta’s outer bands continue to bring rain to Central Texas. Most of it was light to moderate on Monday. Rain chances will continue through Wednesday morning before tapering off for the second half of the week as Beta weakens and takes a northeasterly turn towards Louisiana.

Beta made landfall late Monday night along the middle Texas coast. Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for parts of the Houston area as half a foot of rain has fallen in some areas.
