AUSTIN, Texas — Another round of low clouds and patchy fog will develop across Central Texas Wednesday night. There could also be a few light passing showers during the overnight hours into Thursday morning. So the Thursday morning commute will be damp in some spots with pockets of low visibility.
Clouds will gradually decrease to partial sunshine by Thursday afternoon with highs in the 80s. The first half of Friday follows the same script ahead of a severe weather risk for the afternoon and evening.
The latest update from the Storm Prediction Center includes most of Central Texas in the ‘slight’ – level 2 of 5 – risk for severe storms Friday and Friday night, although early indications are that the severe risk may be highest from the I-35 corridor and points east.
A strong line of storms will develop along the Pacific cold front. Gusty winds and an isolated tornado will be the main concerns, but there could also be pockets of hail. The main window for severe weather will be 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday.
Following the strong storms, the rest of the weekend will be pleasant with dry conditions and afternoon highs Saturday and Sunday in the mid to upper 70s. We’re back in the 80s by early next week.
