Opening times, prices for events around Hurricanes Stadium Series game announced

— The pomp and circumstance surrounding the Carolina Hurricanes hosting an outdoor hockey game at Carter-Finley Stadium will encompass several days of fanfare to rev up Raleigh for a never-before-experienced event in The City of Oaks.

The game brings a national audience, a potential windfall of economic impact and a spectacle that figures to bolster the Triangle as a growing hockey market.

The wait is over as the Navy Federal Credit Union Stadium Series game between the Hurricanes and the Washington Capitals has been delayed twice due to concerns from COVID-19 and is scheduled for Feb. 18. As of Tuesday, the Hurricanes sit at the top of the Metropolitan Division with 72 points.

Here’s a list of events scheduled in a three-day window around the game.

Friday, Feb. 17

Carolina Hurricanes Fan Fest: From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fayetteville Street will host a free event open to the public. There will be photo opportunities with the Stanley Cup, former Hurricanes players signing autographs, food trucks, live music, fireworks, street hockey, craft beer, art installations, photo stations, inflatables and a kids’ zone.

Saturday, Feb. 18

Navy Federal Credit Union Stadium Series, Washington Capitals Vs. Carolina Hurricanes at Carter-Finley Stadium: The puck drops at 8 p.m. For fans attending, the gates open at 6 p.m. The parking lots will open at 2 p.m. with all parking expected to be general admission. Parking will cost $40 per car. Fans should arrive early to account for the large crowd.

The Truly PreGame Zone will open in the PNC Arena East Parking Lot at 2 p.m. for all fans and is free for anyone who has a ticket to the game. The zone is the official tailgating location of the Stadium Series.

Monday, Feb. 20

Youth Hockey Skates presented by Invisalign: The ice at Carter-Finley Stadium will be open to Triangle-area youth hockey teams for open skates.

Carolina Hurricanes Alumni Game, 4 p.m.: The team’s annual alumni game will bring back players from the past teams as the franchise celebrates its 25th season in North Carolina at with a game at Carter-Finley Stadium. The event will be free for fans to attend, but donations to the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation are welcome at entrances.

UNC vs. NC State club hockey, 7 p.m.: Rival teams hit the ice in Raleigh for the annual matchup, but this time they’ll clash at Carter-Finley Stadium. There is no cost to attend. Parking is $10.
