San Marcos home captures video of devastating hailstorm
The first storm of the year saw devastating hail falling into Central Texas overnight. In the early morning of Thursday, March 2, a Central Texas resident filmed nearly a minute of the wild hailstorm that rained down on her home.
San Marcos resident Jennifer Pena was one of the many residents that had hail rain down on their homes on Thursday morning. She shared a 59 second long video to social media this morning and with MySA showing the vicious hailstorm.

In the video, a flurry of hail can be seen bouncing around her back patio. The hail was leaving water droplets on the Ring video camera and could be heard slamming the top of her home. In the post, Pena said, “Felt like a tornado! Freaked us out!”
“I was passed out, I jumped out of bed called the dogs because they sleep with me, ran to my son’s room, who was also woken up by the noise and he was running to get me,” Pena said to MySA. “It was very scary.”

Photo Courtesy of Jennifer PenaShe went outside after the storm and found piles of hail sitting in her yard. A few other locals shared in the comments they experienced the same with some damage.
“Exactly the same here and took trees down,” said Yasmin Zughni.
“I felt the same. It was too scary,” said Brooklyn Vondrasek.
Carrie Hatfield had a bleak outlook on the storm when it was going on, “I actually thought it was a tornado as well. I was like, ‘Well, if I die, I die.”
