As a mild cold front moves into South-Central Texas, San Antonio and parts of the Hill Country could see a few severe thunderstorms Tuesday evening. According to NWS, the storms have the potential to produce damaging winds and large-size hail.

While thunderstorms are possible Tuesday, NWS is forecasting rain for Wednesday, April 5, NWS says widespread rainfall over the eastern half of South-Central Texas, which includes San Antonio and the Hill Country, could arrive by Wednesday night and last through Friday, April 7.

San Antonio and nearby cities like New Braunfels could see anywhere from 2 to 3 inches while Austin and Kyle pose the risk of getting up to 2 inches of rain. Cities like Hondo and Fredericksburg could see as much 2 inches of rain.

Apart from the potential for much needed showers, areas in South-Central Texas are seeing dryer weather and wind gusts of up to 40 mph resulting in a fire danger warning. As of around 2 a.m., NWS has placed Langtry under a red flag warning. Neighboring areas Rocksprings and Kerrville have been placed under a grassfire danger warning by NWS. The risk for fire events start at 1 p.m. and should last until 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Those aren’t the only areas of South-Central Texas facing the potential for dangerous fire conditions. Places such as San Antonio, Uvalde, Pleasanton, Austin, Kerrville, Kyle, and Fredericksburg are under a fire weather watch that NWS issued Monday.
