Forecast: Widespread rain continues Thursday afternoon into Friday; possible flooding concern

Here are the latest updates from the KVUE Storm Team.
AUSTIN, Texas — We’re tracking quite a bit of rainfall across Central Texas, and this could have many an implication on the drought situation.
We’ve started out with heavy rainfall in spots throughout the morning, mainly taking place east of I-35. In fact, rainfall estimates in western Fayette County have up to five and a half inches of rain, and with more on the way, this could create a flood threat.
Some storms are embedded within this heavy rain, but with highs only expected to reach the lower 50s as a result of limited radiational heating, we do not expect anything severe as a result, although one or two storms could be a small hail producer.
Friday will be virtually no different to Thursday, as heavy rain once again could make its way into Central Texas, and again, this creates a flood threat. Thus, it’s important to slow down and use low beam headlights, as well as turn around when you encounter a flooded road.
Saturday we expect to warm only to the upper 60s, but a drying trend begins, which will last through Easter Sunday, when highs will get to the mid-70s.
We are watching for maybe an isolated shower or two to start next week, but we expect to be dry by the middle of next week.
