Triangle volunteers help Alabama tornado victims
Cary, N.C. — Assistance for victims of a deadly Alabama tornado continues to come from the Triangle.
A powerful tornado struck a rural community Monday, killing at least 23 people.
The Red Cross has three volunteers from the Triangle in Alabama. Two of them are providing disaster care to the tornado victims.
The third is Grayson Randall from Cary.
He drove down on Tuesday in an emergency connectivity vehicle that helps establish internet and power in devastated areas.
This is his 12th deployment with the Red Cross.
“It’s so rewarding to support the activities of the Red Cross so they can assist the community after this devastating event,” he said.
The Red Cross said there is a lot of work that needs to be done in Alabama, like reporting the damage, determining the needs of the victims and providing services and supplies.
The recovery can go quicker and smoother with power.
Randall is planning to spend a couple of weeks in Alabama.
The Red Cross will also send more volunteers as necessary.
President Donald Trump will visit some victims in Lee County on Friday.
