Tropical Storm Pablo gets stronger in the Atlantic
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tropical Storm Pablo has strengthened a little more and is expected to pass near or over the eastern Azores Saturday night.
The latest update from the National Hurricane Center shows Pablo about 55 miles south-southwest of Santa Maria Island in the Azores and packing maximum sustained winds of 60 mph — with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds are extending out up to 45 miles from Pablo’s center.
Pablo is currently moving toward the northeast at 25 mph. The system is expected to turn toward the north on Sunday.
Slow weakening is expected over the next couple of days. There are not currently any watches or warnings in effect.
