WEATHER ALERT: Tornado warning issued for Colorado County
HOUSTON – Severe weather alerts were issued Friday as a strong line of storms moved into the Houston region.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Colorado County until 10:45 a.m. The storm was near Sublime and moving east at 20 mph.
Today’s Forecast
Two rounds of storms will make for a very busy Friday.
Round one will arrive after the morning rush and last through midday Friday. Expect downpours and lightning. Isolated storms could turn severe, producing hail and damaging winds.
Friday afternoon will be the lull between round one and round two. Although scattered showers are still possible, the majority of Friday afternoon will be rain-free. Expect windy, humid and warm weather with afternoon temperatures in the 80s.
RADAR: Track storms moving through Houston area
Skies will be lighting up again Friday night with round two. The second complex of storms will move in Friday night and last through early Saturday morning. With training storms, possible heavy rain could lead to localized street flooding.
With two rounds of storms moving through Friday and Friday night, it is important to stay weather aware. Monitor current weather and road conditions and remember to never drive through high water.
Storms will clear shortly after sunrise Saturday, giving way to a pleasant weekend. Expect very warm afternoon temperatures in the mid- to upper 80s Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
