The WRAL Severe Weather team is tracking the tropics daily throughout hurricane season with the latest on storm tracks, expected impacts and safety at the coast.
good afternoon. I’m meteorologist and you will within the Daily Arial Severe Weather Center with your tropical update Right now, the tropics air fairly quiet. We don’t have any systems that were monitoring. We’re getting closer and closer to hurricane season. It officially starts on June 1st, but right now things are looking fairly quiet. If you are headed to the area beaches this weekend, just keep in mind. You need to be very, very careful. There’s a moderate to high rip current risk, so be careful if you were going to be getting in the water, make sure you pay attention to those flags are flying. But overall, right now, it’s quite in the tropics. Just expecting some pop up thunderstorms as we head into the holiday weekend.
