Tropical Storm Cristobal may bring rain, strong winds to Texas gulf coast this weekend
Tropical Storm Cristobal is projected to make landfall Sunday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The center projects the storm will make landfall near Louisiana.
On Wednesday, The National Hurricane Center said Cristobal was moving toward the southeast at 3 mph. Cristobal is expected to turn toward the east Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday and Friday, Cristobal is expected to move toward the north-north east, the center said in an advisory. The storm is expected to strengthen Thursday night and Friday.
Maximum sustained winds are about 60 mph with higher gusts.
“Cristobal is forecast to begin moving northward across the Gulf of Mexico on Friday, and there is a risk of storm surge, rainfall, and wind impacts this weekend along portions of the U.S. Gulf Coast from Texas to the Florida Panhandle,” the center said in an advisory.
