Tropical Storms Laura And Marco Threaten Most Of U.S. Gulf Coast

A relatively quiet and searing Texas weekend began with a growing threat on the southeastern horizon. Tropical Storm Marco emerged from a steadily intensifying tropical depression southeast of the Yucatán Peninsula and took aim at the upper Texas coast. Potentially more dangerous was Tropical Storm Laura, which could swirl into a hurricane and threaten Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana by Wednesday.
