Forecast: Flash Flood Watches and Advisories in effect for parts of Central Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through 1 p.m. for a few select counties. A Flash Flood Advisory is in effect for Travis county until 8:30 p.m.

Higher rain chances and a cool down are on the way for Central Texas as a cold front moves through the area. The cold front is expect Wednesday evening and clearing the region by Thursday morning. Rain chances will ramp up ahead and along the front. Early Wednesday rain has prompted Flash Flood Watches for much of the Hill Country and the I-35 corridor counties.  Wednesday night and Thursday will yield scattered coverage of rain. An additional 1 inch of rainfall is expected. 

The temperature forecast is where things get a bit more tricky. Assuming the front pushes completely through the area, Thursday morning lows will be in the mid-60s while Thursday afternoon highs will be in the 70s. 

Nonetheless, we’re expecting a rebound into the 80s by the weekend. Rain chances will stick around with a 30 to 40% chance on both Saturday and Sunday.
