A tropical disturbance in the Gulf could develop into a tropical storm in the coming days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The center increased the chance of formation for the tropical disturbance to 90% over the next five days in a Wednesday morning forecast.

The system is projected to begin moving north Thursday. Heavy rains could also begin to affect portions of the northern Gulf Coast on Friday.
