On March 21, 2022, an EF-2 tornado touched down in Round Rock, damaging hundreds of homes. ROUND ROCK, Texas — One year ago, on March 21, 2022, the city of Round Rock, Texas, was hit by an EF-2 tornado. The latest storm system to hit California has moved on but the risk of flooding remains high in many parts of the state. CBS News correspondent Carter Evans joins Elaine Quijano and Lana Zak with the latest.

AUSTIN, Texas — A strong cold front moving in Thursday evening is expected to bring the potential for severe weather, including very high wind gusts. Tens of thousands of people remain under evacuation orders in the wake of the latest atmospheric river to pass through California, leaving behind flooding and mudslides. Carter Evans reports.

This is the 11th atmospheric river, which can cause extreme flooding, to hit California since late December.

Thousands of customers were without power across California on Wednesday after the state was hit by its 11th atmospheric river of the winter season, causing major flooding and storm damage statewide. More rain is also in the forecast. Carter Evans has more.
