LIVE BLOG: Severe weather expected to impact East Texas overnight
TYLER, Texas — Severe weather is expected to impact East Texas overnight. Follow along for the latest information.
11:45AM: The CBS19 Weather Experts have designated Friday, Jan. 12, as an Eye on Weather Day.
CBS19 meteorologist Sara Blue says the weather team is tracking a line of storms that pushes through East Texas beginning around 12 a.m., Friday and continues until about 5 a.m.
“The storms have the possibility for straight-line winds, hail, and potentially tornadoes,” Blue said. “We are not tracking much in terms of rainfall, more so a potential for severe weather. Our latest model runs are not showing widespread storms, but all the ingredients needed for significant weather will be present on Friday.”
Blue says as the storms move through, power outages should be expected.
“If this occurs, East Texans will have issues as a polar air mass pours in behind the severe weather,” Blue said.
