Texas flooding: Rainfall totals so far this week
Some areas in Central Texas have seen more than 13 inches of rain, mainly in Fayette County.
AUSTIN, Texas — As many of you have noticed, we’ve seen quite a bit of rain which has been heavy at times, especially in areas along and east of I-35. Here’s a breakdown of what we’ve seen, what we’re seeing now, and what is still left to come.

Past Rainfall
Many areas have seen rainfall totals over the past 72 hours of more than 12 inches of rain, especially in portions of Fayette County, where a gauge near the town of Muldoon reached over 13 inches late Wednesday morning. This resulted in several creeks and streams flooding in Fayette County. This resulted in roads becoming impassable, as well as school districts making the decision to cancel classes for Wednesday.
However, it wasn’t just Fayette County that saw some very heavy rain. Areas along I-35 also saw very high totals, with a Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) gauge recording nearly six inches of rain in portions of Travis and Hays counties.

Not only have we seen impressive rainfall totals, but we’re expecting even more rain to impact those same areas of Central Texas.
Models indicate amounts up to an additional few hundredths to a couple tenths of an inch at best, so do not expect any additional flooding issues.
