National Weather Service in Shreveport set record for most Tornado Warnings issued in single day as Beryl moved through East Texas

TYLER, Texas — The National Weather Service in Shreveport says they set a record for the most Tornado Warnings issued in a single day in their coverage area as Tropical Storm Beryl made its way through the Ark-La-Tex.
According to the NWS, they issued nearly 70 Tornado Warnings on Monday, July 8, which they say is “further proof that inland tropical impacts can also be quite extreme.”
“In this case, it was the tornado threat that superseded everything else, including flash flooding,” the NWS said. “A total of 67 tornado warnings were issued across NWS Shreveport’s coverage area, easily the most in a single day event.”
The 67 warnings nearly double the next most issued in a single day. On Dec. 27, 2015, the NWS issued 36 Tornado Warnings.
