Weather Impact Aware: Flash flooding risk on Thursday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After weeks of high temperatures and dry conditions, a wet pattern has settled over the Charlotte area, bringing inches of much-needed rain to the region.
The WCNC Weather Impact Team wants the Charlotte area to stay Weather Aware on Thursday due to the the threat of flash flooding and excessive rain.

Forecast
Rain chances will continue overnight into Thursday morning which is when the risk for heavy rain increases and the threat of storms begins. Showers and thunderstorms are likely with periods of heavy rain on Thursday, and localized flash flooding will be possible.

How to stay safe
When flash flooding is a threat in the area, it’s important to stay Weather Aware by:
- Turning around when you see flooded roads
- When thunder roars, go indoors
- Have a safe, elevated place to go if you live in a flood-prone areas
- Staying prepared by checking your WCNC Charlotte news app for updates
- Bringing an umbrella or waterproof shoes
