Thursday marked one of the wettest days for August in history for Charlotte with more than four inches of rain since midnight.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Flood Watch remains in effect until Friday morning although rain is tapering off across the Charlotte area. Even if the rain isn’t moderate to heavy, areas of light rain and drizzle can add up quickly for our local totals.

Debby is a tropical depression and continues to move north and northeast, impacting states from the Carolinas to New England and the Northeast. Flash flooding is still impacting many due to record rainfall across portions of our region.

Friday

While storm impacts will slowly diminish into Friday, there will still be a risk for patchy fog in the morning and scattered showers in the afternoon. It’ll also be very hot and humid with highs reaching the low 90s as sunshine returns. Due to deep, tropical moisture and the 90+ high temperatures, feels-like numbers will reach the low 100s.

The Weekend

Saturday and Sunday will both feature low chances for rain as Debby continues to move away from the Charlotte area. The best chance of rain is Saturday evening and overnight.

Highs will reach the low 90s on Saturday and upper 80s on Sunday. Heat indices will peak in the upper 90s Saturday and low-mid 90s Sunday with a more typical summerlike pattern.
