'I made a terrible decision' | Video shows boaters in the middle of Chambers County tornado

Brian Johnson, who’s a pastor in Winnie, initially thought the bass would be biting since a storm was coming. He said he now regrets going out.
CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — Video shows two men and a dog riding out a powerful tornado in a bass boat in Chambers County on Saturday.
Brian Johnson said on Saturday he knew the bass would be biting because a storm was on the way, so he and his companions decided to go fishing in a reservoir. It was a risk they would regret.
Their boat got caught in a tornado and eventually flipped into the water. Fortunately they survived, and Johnson believes it was divine intervention.
“I shouldn’t be here telling you this story,” he said. “I made a terrible decision. All the warnings were there and I didn’t heed them and yet somehow God spared me. So I’ve got to believe he spared me for a purpose.”
Johnson, by the way, is a pastor in Winnie.
The tornado in Chambers County was an EF-3. Here’s a list of all of the confirmed tornadoes to touch down in the Houston area Saturday.
