Report confirms 2 tornadoes hit Burnet County, leaving homes damaged and truck driver injured

BURNET COUNTY, Texas — Thursday’s tornado in Burnet County left a path of destruction more than 3 miles long, according to the National Weather Service.

It’s estimated that the tornado started around 4:29 p.m. near County Road 223, about 8 miles southwest of Copperas Cove and ended near Taylor Lane at 4:54 p.m. Officials said the tornado moved erratically along County Road 223 and the Lampasas River before crossing Panther Creek Road and shifting.

A survey team found trees snapped, a multipurpose garage with a collapsed wall and a home with a significant portion of its roof removed. Meanwhile, surveyors added that a driver of a delivery truck was injured after the tornado flipped his truck on its side.

A second tornado was confirmed in Burnet County just northwest of Briggs. However, surveyors believe the tornado cycled twice and happened in an area they couldn’t access.

The tornado near Briggs was ultimately given an unrated status of EF-U with no injuries or damage reported.
