FORT MILL, S.C. — The annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival in Fort Mill will end early on Saturday due to weather concerns, officials announced.

Festival organizers, in coordination with the National Weather Service, made the decision to end all activities at 3 p.m., seven hours earlier than the originally scheduled 10 p.m. closure. The announcement comes as meteorologists track severe weather moving toward the region.

“This decision was made with careful consideration and with the safety of our attendees, vendors, and staff as our top priority,” said a festival spokesperson in a statement released Saturday morning.

The popular spring event, which typically draws thousands of visitors to Fort Mill for strawberry-themed foods, entertainment, and family activities, had been in full swing when organizers made the decision to cut short the day’s festivities.
