The Texas Capitol and Austin’s airport were among the areas that dealt with damage following Wednesday’s storms.
AUSTIN, Texas — Wednesday’s severe storms caused damage to various locations across the Austin area.
Among the damage caused was to a roof at a gas station in North Austin, which collapsed on a number of vehicles below.
According to the Austin Fire Department (AFD), the collapse happened at a station in the 7500 block of N. MoPac Expressway southbound. A caller told operators that “the gas station pumps roof has collapsed and is on a car.”
The number of injuries caused by the collapse is unknown, according to AFD.
Damage also occurred at the Texas Capitol, where the storm caused glass near the top of the Capitol rotunda to break.
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport also sustained a bit of damage, with airport officials reporting that high winds caused doorway glass near Checkpoint 1 to break. No one was hurt, and airport crews worked to clean up the glass and ensure no one walked through it.
