AUSTIN, Texas — After a wet day Thursday, Friday will feature more of the same, with rounds of rain and storms set to continue through the Fourth of July under a cloudy sky.
Heavy rain has already fallen overnight in the Hill Country, with areas like Mason county picking up on radar estimated totals of over 8″. Flash Flood Warnings have been issued in parts of Mason county overnight, with a Flood Watch in effect for the Hill Country through 1 pm Friday afternoon. Rainfall totals in the Hill Country will range on average from 1″ – 3″, with some localized pockets picking up totals that could exceed 5″ – 6″.
While the heaviest of the rain will likely stay confined to the Hill Country, wet conditions are also expected across the I-35 corridor, with a cloudy sky and on and off showers set to continue throughout the day. For fireworks Friday night, showers will remain a possibility across the entire area.
The stormy conditions will continue through Saturday, with scattered rain and storms set to fire up again for the afternoon. Flooding will remain the primary concern, especially with any heavier downpours that develop across areas that have already experienced heavy rain from Thursday and Friday.
By Sunday, drier conditions will return, with rain chances dropping off drastically. Next week, in fact, will be a dry week. As sunshine and rain-free conditions return, highs will eventually get back into the triple-digits by mid-week.
