Thousands without power in Kerr County as the area is hit with heavy rain and flooding
Heavy rain causes life-threatening flash floods in Kerr County, leaving thousands without power and authorities confirming multiple fatalities.
Thousands of customers are without power right now in Kerr County as the area was hit with heavy rain and flooding early Friday morning.
The start of July Fourth has brought “life-threatening flash flooding” to the area, according to the National Weather Service. County authorities confirmed an unknown number of fatalities.
Kerrville Public Utility Bureau is reporting more than 4,000 people are without power out of just over 24,000 customers served by the utility company.
At 5:10 a.m., the Guadalupe River reached its second-highest height on record, the NWS says—even higher than the 1987 flood.
“This is a very dangerous and life-threatening flood event,” weather officials said on social media, while urging residents to “move to higher ground.”
