East Texas emergency responders among crew in search and rescue missions due to Central Texas floods
There were at least 24 confirmed dead due to the flooding as of Friday evening. The National Weather Service referred to the flood as a “life-threatening” situation.
A Smith County emergency responder is among the crews engaged in search and rescue operations during severe floods in Central Texas.
Smith County Emergency Services District #2 said one of their own were dispatched to Llano, TX to assist in search and rescue. The response was activated by the Texas Task Force 2.
Two Lufkin firefighters, Driver-Operator Byrum and Firefighter Barnes, were also dispatched.

Texans in the Concho Valley and Texas Hill Country are being urged to stay weather aware, not to drive through flooded rods and to follow all warning signs from local officials.
