Raleigh hit with more summer flooding during torrential week across central NC
Raleigh residents are dealing with more flooding on Thursday during a week that saw a tropical depression and strong storms drop several inches of rain on the city this week.
According to the National Weather Service, Raleigh saw nearly an inch and a half of rain in about an hour Thursday afternoon.
This was the third time since Sunday that torrential rain has fallen in central North Carolina this week. The start of the flooding around central North Carolina began on Sunday, when Tropical Depression Chantal ripped through the state, bringing tornadoes and flooding to several counties, including Chatham, Lee, Moore and Orange counties.
On Wednesday, more rain moved through the area and brought torrential rain to Orange and Durham counties, as well as some areas in Wake County.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, no one has been injured Thursday and there are no reports of water rescues.
Police said they have barricades going up at Union Station at 510 West Martin Street, adding that several vehicles were underwater. Barricades were also going up at 4000 Atlantic Avenue.
