Flood relief resources: Where Chapel Hill businesses hit hard by flooding can get help
The town, university and organizations in Chapel Hill are teaming up to host a flood resource event for businesses impacted by destructive flooding from Tropical Depression Chantal last week.
The event will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday at Innovate Carolina Junction, 136 E. Rosemary St.
“We have been made aware of about 35, 40 businesses that have been completely wiped out that don’t have their products available anymore or don’t have their space available,” Sheryll Waddell, director of innovation hubs and engagement for Innovate Carolina at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said.
Innovate Carolina, an organization that connects the community with UNC students, is hosting the event. This event will connect business that are offering support with businesses hit hard by flooding.
“We can provide a venue for the companies looking to provide support and the companies that were negatively impacted and need that support,” Waddell said.
Waddell said they are expecting law firms, construction companies, loan organizations and volunteer groups to attend. It will be set up like an open house where businesses can speak with services or companies that meet their specific needs.
“A law firm can help companies understand their leases and their policies,” she said. “A construction company can help with restoration services.”
Any business in the area that is dealing with damage is welcome to attend.
