The San Antonio Zoo will disburse 20,000 complimentary tickets to people affected by the deadly July 4 floods in the Texas Hill Country as part of its Zoo Cares: Together for Texans campaign, officials with the attraction said.
“The success of this effort reflects the power of Texans helping Texans,” Zoo President and CEO Tim Morrow said in a statement. “We are grateful to every guest who supported the campaign. Their visit will provide an opportunity for thousands to find some solace with a complimentary visit to the San Antonio Zoo.”
Earlier this month, the zoo offered guests $10 admission, with every purchased ticket between Aug. 2-10 funding a ticket that would later be donated to those affected by the recent natural disaster.
The San Antonio Zoo will distribute the complimentary tickets in coming weeks with the help of its relief partners, including Goodwill, Salvation Army and the Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Center.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with those affected, always and forever,” Morrow said.
