Road closures reported due to flooding in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is feeling the effects of a storm bringing rain, gusty winds, overwash and flooding to the Outer Banks.

On Sunday, the city of Myrtle Beach said that Kings Highway and 24th Avenue South is closed.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department posted photos of the flooding on Facebook along with a warning:

“Please avoid driving through flooded areas, and remember to ‘Turn Around, Don’t Drown!’ You never know how deep the water is, or if there is even a roadway there so it is not worth risking your life! The best thing you can do today is just stay home and off the streets until the rain stops which help keep you and our crews safe and dry!”

WMBF reports flooding on the following roads.

• 75th Avenue North and Porcher
• 5300 North Ocean Boulevard
• 68th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard/Cane Patch Swash
• 28th Avenue North flooded beach pipe
• 24th Avenue North and Withers
• 24th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard
• 62nd Avenue North and northern avenues

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department said that flooding has been reported in the area of 68th Avenue North on Ocean Boulevard, with parts of the boulevard being flooded between 62nd Avenue North and up into the 70s.
