Halifax County couple OK after riding out Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica
We just got some encouraging news from Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa crashed into the island.
Bridgette and Wayne Todd, the Halifax County newlyweds who spoke with WRAL News earlier this week about hunkering down at their resort near Negril, are OK.

We received a message from them Wednesday afternoon saying they were fortunate to be in a part of the country that wasn’t hit as hard.
“We were thankful not to have been hit as badly as other parts of Jamaica,” said Bridgette Todd.
A Chapel Hill woman who was in Jamaica with an academic team and a man from Pinetops who communicated with WRAL News also said they are safe and unharmed from the storm.
Melissa claimed dozens of lives and caused widespread destruction across Cuba, Haiti and Jamaica.
