Bladenboro braced for possible flooding from Debby
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Bladenboro is hoping heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debby won’t cause flooding in its downtown area…or anywhere else.
Business owners and residents are closely watching the storm drains and system of canals and ditches designed to carry excess water away.
As of Wednesday afternoon, flooding has not been an issue, but work continues to ensure Bladenboro is as ready as it can be for the possibility.
A private business donated sand and bags for businesses and residents to use to protect their property. Several downtown businesses have sandbags in place and some have moved items from the floors in case water does happen to get in.
The Town of Bladenboro has a curfew in effect from 11pm until 7am on Wednesday and Thursday.
