Two western NC deputies killed by flooding from Tropical Storm Helene

Two deputies in western North Carolina have died, according to the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association.
In a Facebook post, the organization stated that both deputies lost their lives due to flooding and hazardous conditions caused by tropical storm Helene.
One deputy was from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, and the other was from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Both were killed in the raging floodwaters.
The NC Sheriffs’ Association asked everyone to keep the families, friends, and colleagues of the deputies, as well as the residents of western North Carolina, in their thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable and difficult time.
