These are the names for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season

The season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.

HOUSTON — It’s time to start talking forecast cones, spaghetti models, and all the other terms that go with hurricane season on the Gulf Coast. It’s back for 2025 and runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. While the statistical peak of hurricane season isn’t until Sept. 10, storms can spin up at any time — even outside of the hurricane season dates. So the key is being ready well before a storm forms.

So, when they do form, what will we call them? Below is the list of names for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

And what happens if we have more storms than names on the list? The National Hurricane Season has a plan for that. If we get a storm after Wendy, there’s a list of alternate names, which you can find here.

If you recognize some of the names on this year’s list, there’s a reason. The National Hurricane Center recycles names every six years. That means some of the names you’ll see this year were also names of storms in 2019. And they may be names again in 2031.

There are exceptions. When a storm is exceptionally deadly and/or costly, the National Hurricane Center will retire the name. For instance, the names Beryl, which hit Houston, Milton, and Helene will never be storms again. They were retired after last year’s hurricane season.
