Bexar County and San Antonio services assist with deadly Kerrville flooding

SAN ANTONIO — First responder agencies from Bexar County and San Antonio are assisting in Kerr County as historic flooding hits the Hill Country area on the July Fourth holiday. 

Five to 10 inches of rain fell early Friday morning due to slow-moving and intense storms in Kerr and Kendall counties, which remain under a Flash Flood Warning until at least noon. That’s likely to be extended. Fatalities have been confirmed from this flood event, but no further details were provided. 

ESD 2 and ESD 7 from Bexar County have been called to assist Kerr County with rescue and recovery, Bexar County officials said.  Likewise, the San Antonio Fire Department is sending in services. SAFD sent the AMBUS (ambulance bus) as well as medical personnel to Kerr County.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office said it had responded to “multiple calls for high-water rescues.”
