Parts of Highway 12 along Outer Banks remain closed, days after Hurricane Erin

OCRACOKE, NC (WWAY) — Highway 12 on the north end of Ocracoke remains closed Monday morning, days after Hurricane Erin passed by.
The NCDOT says they did not receive any substantial ocean over wash Sunday night, but the high tide did erode the new dune a bit.
Crews are working to fortify the dunes more to protect the roadway, and hoping the incoming high tide is lower than recent days.
No word on when the road will completely reopen.
