LIVE: Tornado warning for Cabarrus, Rowan counties until 5:45 p.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A tornado warning was issued for Cabarrus and Rowan counties until 5:45 p.m. Friday.
Before that, Cabarrus, Iredell, Mecklenburg, and Rowan counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:30 p.m.
“5:00pm ET: Severe storms moving away from Lake Norman into Cabarrus and Rowan counties. Strong winds and heavy rain with this storm,” said chief meteorologist Brad Panovich.
Two tornado warnings popped up for Catawba and Iredell counties around 4 p.m. They were canceled just before 4:30 p.m.

“It doesn’t look like anything touched down, but there were some damage reports on the Catawba/Iredell county line of some power lines knocked down,” said Panovich.
A severe thunderstorm watch remained in effect for most of the Charlotte viewing area until 11 p.m.
