Barely two years after Hurricane Harvey ravaged the homes of thousands, Imelda caught southeast Texas by surprise as the torrential downpours pounded down on what many believed would be another normal Thursday.
Jefferson County received some of the worst from the tropical storm that ranked as a top 5 United States rain event, with more than 2 feet of rain in some areas.
DEVASTATING: Hundreds of homes flooded in Kingwood, Humble during Imelda
Beaumont’s emergency line had received 760 flood-related calls as of 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the Beaumont Police Department.
