Tropical Storm Pablo speeds away from the Azores in the Atlantic
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tropical Storm Pablo is accelerating away from the Azores.
The latest update from the National Hurricane Center shows Pablo about 245 miles east of Lajes Air Base in the Azores and packing maximum sustained winds of 65 mph — with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds are extending out up to 80 miles from Pablo’s center.
Pablo is currently moving toward the northeast at 29 mph. The system is expected to turn toward the north on Sunday before moving toward the northwest on Monday.
Slow weakening is expected to begin Sunday night. There are not currently any watches or warnings in effect.
