NC State's Kevin Keatts calls on coaching community to assist in Hurricane Florence recovery

NC State men’s basketball coach Kevin Keatts offered support for the communities being heavily affected by Hurricane Florence via Twitter Friday, promising to share details on how he and his program will help those affected “later.”
The second-year coach of the Wolfpack came to Raleigh in the spring of 2017 immediately from UNC Wilmington, where he coached from 2014-2017. He emphasized the importance of the coast to him personally and also encouraged other coaches and programs to do what they can to help.
This is not the first instance of Keatts taking the lead in offering assistance to an area ravaged by a hurricane.
Last year, in the wake of Hurricane Harvey’s impact in Houston, Texas, Keatts and several other Triangle area sports figures sent equipment and gear to the University of Houston.
NC State university is currently evaluating the best course of action by which to follow through on Keatts’ directive, weighing options that include both collecting donations themselves as an athletic department or through directing people in the NCSU community and department to one particular charity.
