60 Homes Damaged From Explosion At Hydrogen Fuel Plant Near Hickory
About 60 homes were damaged from an explosion at a hydrogen fuel plant near Hickory on Tuesday, Catawba County officials said.
The explosion took place at OneH2 in the town of Long View on Tuesday morning. All employees are accounted for, and there were no injuries or fatalities, according to the county.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Air quality also is being monitored, but there has been no risk to the community.
One of the homes damaged was deemed uninhabitable by Catawba County building inspectors and City of Hickory fire inspectors. Affected homeowners have been advised to contact their home insurance company.
