Ruptured water line floods Glenwood Avenue near Crabtree Valley
Raleigh, N.C. — Part of Glenwood Avenue was flooded on Monday between Crabtree Valley Mall and Blue Ridge Road due to a ruptured water line.
Sky 5 video showed muddy water covering the eastbound lanes headed for downtown Raleigh before 7:30 a.m.
The area in front of the mall and the Interstate 440 interchange was completely flooded. Raleigh police had blocked the inbound side of Glenwood Avenue, and traffic was being diverted onto Blue Ridge Road.
Crabtree Creek in the area is known for flooding during heavy rain events, but the gauge at the creek was below flood stage Monday morning.
Heavy delays were reported in both directions. Drivers should avoid the area.
