Tornado Watch In Effect For The Austin Area Until 5 A.M. Thursday
A tornado watch is in effect for Travis and surrounding counties until 5 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service says.
A severe thunderstorm warning, including San Marcos, Buda and much of southeastern Travis County, is in effect until 11 p.m. Wind up to 60 mph and golf ball-sized hail are possible in this storm.
What’s the difference between a tornado watch and warning? The National Weather Service says a warning means a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. A watch means a tornado is possible.
The NWS says severe storms are possible overnight and into Thursday morning.
